The name ‘conifer’ originates from the Latin meaning ‘cone bearing’. Conifers feature some of the smallest and certainly the biggest of living wood plants. They are tall and stately, offering decoration and screening. They are also quite robust and will withstand most types of conditions and most weathers. For this reason conifers are the most trouble free of trees to have in the modern garden and often live to a great age.
Many think that all conifers are evergreen yet some, such as the larix, drop their leaves in autumn. The vast majority, however, are evergreen and give year-round interest when everything else is looking threadbare.
TENDERCARE has a huge range of conifers from fast growing tall items to slow growing dwarf specimens. There are leylandiis and topiary conifers that can be trimmed or formed so that they are contained in size. The typical varieties include beautiful and fast growing Cupressocyparis leylandii 'Gold Rider' and Thuja occidentalis 'Brabant'. |
