Climbers and wall shrubs can all be used to adorn vertical structures but need different amounts of support. Climbers will attach themselves to walls, trellises or fences with little or no help. Wall shrubs, on the other hand, need to be attached to side elevations and are grown, therefore, on trellis supports so that they form the correct shapes and structures.

Typical climbers stocked at TENDERCARE are clematis, evergreen jasmine, wisterias and ivys – on trellises and cans from two meters upwards. Some of our Clematis are eight meters tall, grown in plastic cylinders.

Most people are unaware of the extent of each variety, for example, there is a wide range of wisterias from whites to blues, purples to magentas. Virginia Creepers are another popular selection, along with honeysuckles, climbing roses and hydrangeas.

Popular wall shrubs include the bottle brush climbing hydrangea, evergreen photinia and the prickly pyracantha which flowers in spring and provides as much security as it does pleasure. Pyracanthas can have a range of berries from red to yellow and orange and are also supplied by TENDERCARE grown on wooden fan trellises ready to give instant impact.
