Grasses are hugely popular and can be integrated into a garden project
to create a natural look, emphasizing the harmony between man and nature.
They are often used in ‘fountain’ planting, to establish
boundaries and to create transitional points. They are especially attractive
in the full sun or in windy spots where they waving fronds create attractive
texture in the garden.
Flanked by wide strips of herbaceous plants they can create year-round
interest because they too change their appearance throughout the year.
Grasses have flowers just like any other plant then fade to browns and
maintain a skeletal crispness through the winter. The trick with grasses
is getting the right groups together in your garden. If you get it right,
you could end up with all sorts of greens, whites and golds, particularly
at autumn time.
They are also ideal for filling that gap in the season between spring
flowers and emerging perennials. TENDERCARE has experts who will be able
to identify the different types of grasses and show you the best ones
to create interest in your garden.
