Our Buying Policy
TENDERCARE is a very specalised nursery because it offers stock which is generally much larger and more advanced than is generally available. This is because our stock is aimed at clients who want semi-mature specimens. It means they don’t have to wait for years for their plants to mature, but can create a garden which has immediate impact.

We Choose Carefully
We buy from hundreds of different nurseries with whom we have developed relationships over the years. Many of them are British growers, however we also bring in stock from mainland Europe, Scandinavia, New Zealand and America.

What all our suppliers have in common are the exacting standards by which they grown every item of stock. That said, we will ensure we are happy with what we are buying by visiting them and walking their fields prior to placing orders. We check that plants have been grown correctly, have a good structure and will withstand the change of environment.

They are transported to our nursery at the right time of year, then given ongoing cultural maintenance to ensure they overcome any transportation shock. This is especially important with stock which has come from different climates to ours. In fact, all our imported stock is repotted and acclimatized to improve root to shoot ratio and grown on here for 2-4 seasons. Only when we are satisfied that they are healthy and strong are they deemed fit for sale.
